The Bay is also home to the remains of a wharf, built around 1885-86, perhaps to supply building materials to Fort Ballance, constructed around the same time. For a time it was used by the Wellington Navel Reserve.
October 16, 1962, the dilapidated wharf was”dismantled” by the Navy and Army with explosives.
