Island Bay

February 26, 2010

forest1If you have never been to the Kelp forest in Island Bay you are missing out on a real treat. Swimming through 10m high fronds followed by Spoties and blue cod is a pretty neat experience. How to get there; park up in the area by the Island Bay sign, opposite the bay from the bait shed. Set you compass to pretty much due south but aim for the eastern side of Taputeranga Island. At high tide you will be in about 11-12m of water. Happy Diving.
